At this point, I’m not sure what will become of oppo, but I feel that it might not be a good idea to not have a backup “fallback blog”. does anyone know of a good place to host a hypothetical oppo II ? And if this is the end, all of you guys and gals are truly awesome.

There will be appeals, it will drag on. Good chance that the award will get drastically reduced or overturned on appeal. Oppo ain't going anywhere.

How tightly are kinja and gawker combined? I feel like gawker could die and kinja would still hang around.

It’ll live, unless it doesn’t. If it doesn’t then one day it will just go dark and there won’t be a chance to collaborate on a graceful transition. Need to start working the backup plan.

We should setup a subdomain on Wordpress.com. It has similar features including allowing anyone to post content. It would also contain less ads (wordpress places a few) and it could be an automotive community truly run by the people.
